Céad Míle Fáilte ~ A Hundred Thousand Welcomes!

Here we seek a rest in the shade, some cool water and a little kindness. This blog is dedicated to peace, truth, justice and a post- industrial, post-petroleum illumined world in spite of all odds against it. I very much like the line about the ancient knight (see poem below) "His helmet now shall make a hive for bees" It is reminiscent of "beating swords into ploughshares" a sentiment I heartily approve of. Thank you for visiting ~ I hope you return!

No Coast Headed Home

Hey poetry nerds across the fruited plains ~

QUITE Friends,The last few days have been very exciting here in Madison. I have been on my death bed since we left Nebraska, but even that could not detract from the overwhelming awesomeness that is our annual slam family reunion. First of all, I want to let you know that the No Coast team finished third in their semi-finals bout on Thursday, falling to an amazingly talented Boston Cantab team. Keep your eyes open, dear friends. Boston Cantab's captain, one superhuman Brian S. Ellis, will do several shows in Nebraska this November.

Final rankings have not been released by PSI yet - and may not be for a few more days - but the bout results ensure that the No Coast team will rank as one of the top twelve slam teams in the nation this year! How sweet is that?Advancing to the finals stage were Boston Cantab, New York LouderARTS, Charlotte, and Austin. After a hard fought - and very impressive - finals bout, they placed as follows: CharlotteNew York LouderARTSAustinBoston Cantab

In my view, Rachel McKibbens, Marty McConnell, and Brian Ellis stole the finals night show. We were blown away by their talent. Tomorrow we pile into cars and head back to Nebraska. We're looking forward to seeing all of you at the No Coast Poetry Slam on August 14th.

Love from the team,

No-Coast Poetry Slam Team Advances To Semi-Finals In Madison

Woot! Woot! Much cause for celebration among word geeks, art freaks and poets here in Star City, also known as Lincoln, Nebraska ~ home of the extremely talented (if alas occasionally somewhat foul-mouthed) No Coast Slam Team, which has just advanced to the Semi-Finals at the National Poetry Slam held this year in Madison, Wisconsin. After three days of preliminary qualifying competition, the No Coast Slam Team is ranked 14th in the country (woot!) and will be advancing to the twenty team semi-finals competitions on Friday night. I think there were 76 teams starting the competition, so there you go.

Lincoln readers: please patronize the following businesses, whose tanglible and spiritual support, along with that of we the fans, enabled No Coast, of The Nebraska Writer's Collective, to go to Nationals.

The Meadowlark Coffee & Espresso
A Novel Idea Bookstore
Panic!
Bodhi Imports
Mojo's Dermagraphics & Design

You can read up on No Coast here and here. And Nebraska Poet stuff, here.

GOOD LUCK! Break a leg!
