Céad Míle Fáilte ~ A Hundred Thousand Welcomes!

Here we seek a rest in the shade, some cool water and a little kindness. This blog is dedicated to peace, truth, justice and a post- industrial, post-petroleum illumined world in spite of all odds against it. I very much like the line about the ancient knight (see poem below) "His helmet now shall make a hive for bees" It is reminiscent of "beating swords into ploughshares" a sentiment I heartily approve of. Thank you for visiting ~ I hope you return!

Dolphins Recognized

Dolphins have been declared the world’s second most intelligent creatures after humans, with scientists suggesting they are so bright that they should be treated as “non-human persons”.
Jonathan Leake, Times Online 3 January 2010

Not sure what he means by "non-human persons" but it sure is nice to see them being recognized for the brilliant creatures they are. After all, they certainly seem to enjoy life more than humans do, and wreak much less havoc on earth' s other species.

Whales Migration Patterns Normalizing

Great news for those who (like me) love the highly intelligent, beautiful and emotionally sophisticated water mammals: the planet’s largest animal may be returning to pre-whaling feeding grounds. Scientists have documented the first known migration of blue whales from the coast of California to areas off British Columbia and the Gulf of Alaska since the end of commercial whaling in 1965.

It is fascinating to watch them dance so gracefully and finally surface to breathe. They truly are our brothers. From Science Daily.
