I am proud to be an American, but I am ashamed of what the government is doing in my name.
Yet another in a long, agonized series of articles, essays and blog posts which decry the devolution of the US into a thug state run for the benefit of the top quarter of one percent of the population. I concur wholeheartedly: this is not my America. I repudiate all recent attempts to make it conform to the image of Stalinist Russia and Nazi Germany. That is not who we are, and we the people need to emphasise that point at every turn.
