I happened upon the British Christmas Message from Queen Elizabeth, with the usual royal folderol and old home movies featuring infant Charles prancing about in a romper, but also holding forth on some good old fashioned ideas which we rebel colonists would do well to heed. The call to lead an outgoing, unselfish and sacrificial life, as Christ did; to serve the nation and the wider community in increased measure is salutory.
